Tell Me What You Think

Hello All,

Elisha emailed me with a suggestion of starting a memorial blog for grandfather where people could share stories, pictures or anything else that would be meaningful to the family.

The title of this blog is not decided upon. You may make suggestions for a title. Also, the blog address (http://thejohnwalkermemorial.blogspot.com/) can also be changed; so, if you have any suggestions for that feel free to offer them.

We will work on giving this blog some character in the near future.

Love,
Hope

  1. Hi Aunt Hope,
As usual, your creative vision for a blog looks fantastic to me! Love it so far, and I think address is fitting. Is "The Life and Times..." not your choice for title? I like it! Thanks for doing this. It is really special.

    1. Hello Hope's

I first had One of a Kind, just of the top of my head, but changed it to The Life and Times of John E. Walker. It is still open to suggestions even anyone choses to make one.

      Love you!

  2. Wow...I don't remember ever seeing those photos! Love the stamps and magnifying glass! Yes, I really like the name you chose also. Thanks for all your hard work! Sorry, I don't have any input, looks more than perfect already!

    Love,

  3. Hi Hope,

I immediately liked the title "One Of A Kind". First off, that instantly impressed me with addressing Grandfather's unique character, and as I think about the Genesis account for categorizing God's creatures "according to their kind", Grandfather's individuality within our kind, certainly stands out.

Thanks for starting this, it's already started out with such powerful impact from those wonderful pictures. Some of us "grafted in" family members that have been intrigued by our spousal heritage (i.e., speaking for myself, some of us sappy, sentimental old "fools" :), will really appreciate seeing where our beautiful spouses came from.

I'm looking forward to so much more of the awesome impact for good that our wonderful Lord will bring about in celebrating the life and times of this unique creation of His.

    In His & his celebration,
    Jeff

  4. Hello all,

Not sure if I'm posting this in the right place (Hope or Editor, if you need to re-post this elsewhere under a separate category, please feel free), I just wanted to share some of our first-hand impressions for various reader's edification that I sent out to some of my family members shortly after Grandfather's Homegoing:

    Dear Family,

Clare/Mom and I are in TN today. Her Dad has been ill, and we came down here Sunday evening at very short notice. We spent the day with him Monday, and he went home to be with the Lord Tues. a.m., and we were privileged to be able to bury his body yesterday evening on the family property. It was a great time of rejoicing as we laid his spent body to rest. We've been having an awesome time along with many of Clare's 14 other siblings, and with several of the grandchildren that could be here at this time and those that have been here recently, celebrating his homegoing. What a happy time picturing him leaping and skipping about in the joy and presence of the Lord with so many that have gone before him! At the same time of course, we feel for Grandmother, who was very much hoping to finish her race/pilgrimage before he did, and will miss him very much in the interim.

This whole thing has been such a great honor and privilege to participate in. I had the privilege of assisting Tony, who I was so impressed with and inspired by his gentle and loving leadership, in lovingly attending to all the needs of his bed-ridden Dad who couldn't do those things that we are all privileged to do for ourselves, while at the same time supporting his hurting Mom. Tony, and other family members taking shifts, were there tirelessly around the clock for weeks to try to attend to his every need.

We are just so thankful that we could be here to be present at this wonderful time of celebration of his homegoing! We have seen, and will continue to see, the Hand of God move in so many "miraculous" ways in touching so many family members in so many wonderful ways.

Thank you all for your loving care and support.

    With much love,
    Mom & Dad/Clare & Jeff

  5. Hope,

Thanks for getting this up and running. Everything about it is great! You are a blessing. I never would had the discipline to actually get something started, so thanks again! I wish we could all have been together to share our memories and thoughts, but this is certainly the next best thing and in some ways gives individuals a better opportunity to express how they feel.

  6. Thank you all for the wonderful input on this site.

What a blessing to be with the family to celebrate Daddy's faithful pilgrimage to the celestial city! As we traveled to get there, my "little pink mouse" (name given by Grandmother and Grandfather)comforted and blessed me with story after story of memories of Daddy and Mother and times we had with them. She went on and on "...then Grandmother stuck a chip in the dip and said, 'Here Wicky.' Then she put it into Grandfather's mouth. Then he winked at her."
I was amazed at how well she knew them and the sweetness of their relationship. Then I realized that it was through the upheaval of our job-related troubles that gave us the opportunity to end up visiting Daddy and Mother so many times throughout these past two or more years. When Bob had the "secure" job in Maryland, Little Pink Mouse hardly ever saw and barely knew her Grandparents. I used to be sad about the travels and troubles, but now I'm so glad for them!
Hallelujah! Thine the Glory! Revive us again!

    1. Hello Sweetie,

This is very touching. Sometimes others don't read all the comments. You might want to make this a post instead of just a comment.

      Love you!
